Solar Energy Investment Completed
Orkon Tekstil has completed a significant investment in solar energy infrastructure at our production facility in Bornova, Izmir. This initiative is part of our broader commitment to sustainable manufacturing and reducing the environmental impact of textile production.
The Investment
Our newly installed rooftop solar panel system generates clean energy to power a significant portion of our daily operations. The system was designed specifically for our facility's energy profile, optimizing output during peak production hours when energy demand is highest.
The installation covers approximately 200 m² of our facility roof, utilizing high-efficiency photovoltaic panels rated for the Izmir region's excellent solar irradiance levels (averaging 1,500+ kWh/m² annually).
Environmental Impact
The textile industry is responsible for approximately 10% of global carbon emissions. By investing in renewable energy, we are actively working to reduce our carbon footprint. Our solar installation is expected to offset a meaningful percentage of our annual electricity consumption, reduce CO2 emissions by several tons per year, decrease dependence on fossil fuel-generated grid electricity, and contribute to Turkey's national renewable energy targets.
